Who?

Who is to blame, or involved in this mess (i.e., FDA, consumers, drug companies, etc.)?

It is all a marketing ploy by big companies. Keep coming up with "new" medicines for kids since they know parents over react and want "the best" for the little ones. Maybe all they need is just water and exercise instead

I believe that it is a money issue driven by doctors and drug manufacturers. The increase of over the counter medicine and a prescription for everything is creating a generation of sicker children. Parents hear a child sneeze and want an antibiotic. A child's immune system is never allowed to develop. Parents have been so programmed to treat the symptoms that they would rather pay a copay or buy a sugary syrup than give their children time to cough or sneeze and let their bodies protect themselves.

Before these evil medical companies came around, people were living into their mid 30s at the most. Are kids over medicated at times? Yes, of course they are. Is this the fault of the companies that make the medications? I say no, it is the fault of the parents. As a parent, you have a duty to become aware of what you are giving your child. No, exercise and water will not cure every ailment, now will a Tylenol at every meal. A healthy life-style doesn't come in a bottle at any age, and medicines must be supplemented by proper diet, an active lifestyle and a knowledge of what is going into yours and your child's bodies.

drug companies are a HUGE part of why drugs get PUSHED by doctors. that is why it is up to the parent to say NO sometimes. a doctor is trained to try and pinpoint where an illness is stemming from and make a decision to find a remedy. the pharmaceuticals are going to dot their i's and crossed their t's chances so eventually you will be victim to the prescription gimmick of "here try this, you are now an official guinea pig". the FDA is going to approve a drug based on scientific evidence presented and let's face it an experiment can altered to look anyway a scientist wants it to. we all have guilt in how so many drugs are passed down to the consumer...if we (the consumer) say no...bottom line is it hits the drug companies where it hurts and nobody likes anybody messing with their money
